The 'Death' of bloggers...

March 10, 2017

I published this blog yesterday and republished it today with a correction...

Another installment of things relevant and not so relevant...this time relevant to us all.

Dying, death, mortality...concepts we are uncomfortable with? A bit? Lots?...what about unfulfilled dreams? Uncomfortable now?

The following info was giving to me when I first started training as a Bereavement Supporter at Helderberg Hospice back in the day.  It's titled 'The Top Five Regrets' by a very experienced palliative care worker named Bronnie Ware, she spent many years in the trenches volunteering for a very challenging gig, namely end stage support...for the layperson, giving support and holding a gentle space for people that are in the last stages of dying.

Bronnie was privy to many things said by the dying, the most important however were the regrets clients/patients had while living their lives up until that point..

These are the top 5 of those regrets, and please remember, these outweighed all other regrets by far...

1) I wish I had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me...

This was the most common regret of all...most people leaving their dreams unfulfilled.

As Bronnie says 'It is very important to honor at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment you lose your health, its to late. Health brings the freedom very few realize, until they no longer have it"

I would like to add to what Bronnie said, if you are STRIVING to fulfill your dreams in a focused yet present way, not just steamrolling along, then you are on the right path...in my opinion, others may disagree and that's okay:))))  Many times seeing how the things you do are falling into place is more satisfying than the accomplishment...

So enough to contemplate today, I will be discussing one regret per day/blog so there is time to reflect on each one...

Have a fab day folks....
