I read...lots, a diverse plethora of subjects, a wide variety of authors, many older editions of subjects that are now becoming mainstream...yes...many new books are a synthesis of ideas in books from back in the day...surprise!!!
So every once in a while I will wave a book at you that interests me and recommend you have a peak at it...simple:))
The first book is a oldie, 1946, first published in English in 1959, the name is, 'Mans Search For Meaning' by Viktor E. Frankl a professor of neurology and psychiatry.
During the Second World War, the author spent three years in various German concentration camps watching people die every day. The first part of the book he relates his time spent in the concentration camps in detail, while the second part describes` the basic concepts of his existential theory aptly named Logotherapy.
These are some of Logotherapies principles:
Life has meaning under all circumstances, even the most miserable ones.
Our main motivation for living is our will to find meaning in life.
We have freedom to find meaning in what we do, and what we experience, or at least in the stance we take when faced with a situation of unchangeable suffering.
Viktor Frankl writes with meaning and emotion, this book is so relevant at this time in the history of the world, we are all more and more, old and young, looking for the will to meaning, and human kind will always search for meaning, may we never stop I say...
An awesome video to watch is, 'Victor Frankl on Youth in Search of Meaning 1972' on yotube. Whenever I feel a bit lost and unsure about the direction I am taking my life I watch this...
